Introduction:
ABC Data Shredding Solutions, a secure data destruction company, faced issues with dust accumulation in its shredding facility. To ensure operational safety and maintain a clean working environment, a comprehensive high-level dusting operation was scheduled over a weekend to avoid disruption to their weekday operations.
Objective
The objective was to perform high-level dusting using specialised equipment to ensure a safe, clean environment without interrupting secure data destruction activities.
Operational Overview
The high-level dusting was carried out using:
- Apex Industrial Dusting Machine: A high-powered vacuum and dusting system to remove dust from elevated surfaces.
- Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP): A scissor lift with a 15-meter reach, enabling access to beams, ductwork, and lighting fixtures.
- Certified Team: The team consisted of 1 certified MEWP operator and 2 industrial cleaning technicians.
The project was executed over two days:
- Day 1: The team focused on the main shredding and storage areas, dusting beams and ductwork, and safely disposing of the dust.
- Day 2: Work continued in tighter areas, including the control room and administrative sections, with final inspections conducted to ensure thorough cleaning.
Challenges Faced
- Dust in a High-Security Environment: Strict measures were implemented, including sealed dust collection systems to ensure sensitive materials were protected.
- Limited Personnel: A small but efficient team worked seamlessly together to cover the large facility.
- Accessing Tight Spaces: The MEWP was maneuvered carefully, and extended tools were used to reach confined areas.
